Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra
Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra History and Purpose: Founded in January 2001 by executive/artistic director Gregory Lawrence, CCO is a professional San Diego ensemble that specializes in the literature of the baroque, rococo, and classical eras, but not to exclude works outside those periods. Since it's debut October 27, 2001 at it's performing home base, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Encinitas, CCO has provided San Diego County an orchestra that brings to life compositions rarely, if ever, programmed by the other fine San Diego orchestras, in many different and beautiful venues.
In addition to its three St. Andrew's concerts CCO has been twice hosted by the First Presbyterian Church concert series, February 3, 2002 and October 5, 2003. CCO has also performed twice at the California Center for the Arts Escondido in both the main hall and the smaller Center Theater. CCO was also hosted by St. Dunstan's Episcopal in Del Cerro on September 15, 2002 for an all baroque concert including Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons'.
Via it's unique programming, CCO now gives the many freelance San Diego professional orchestral musicians another fine orchestra with which to work on a semi-regular basis and the opportunity to perform literature they would not likely get otherwise.
CCO provides other fine San Diego resident artists another vehicle to share their gifts and hard earned talents as soloists with the benefit of a fully professional orchestra that can compliment them in the way they deserve to be!
Most importantly, as San Diego County is absolutely RICH with TALENT, CCO seeks to dispel the provincial notion that 'fine music making' need be imported to San Diego County audiences. Therefore, CCO is dedicated to featuring mainly San Diego resident artists, as core members and/or soloists, with CCO!
It's all about the Music!

ENCINITAS – Although Gregory Lawrence has dipped deeply into his own pocket, sustaining the Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra has been a memorable labor of love.
